...DNN use crappy outdated non-standards-compliant html?

It makes it VERY difficult for those of us who work hard to make our sites with modern, standards-compliant code to implement our sites in.  I look at the code generated by DNN and I'm inspired to cry.  WHY WHY WHY!?!?!?!

It's 2006 guys -- maybe it's time you attempted to pull DNN out of poorly-formed html 4.0.

The Core team as well as developers are already working on this. You need to look at the whole picture though at not just standards compliance though since DNN has come a LONG way from where it was, not just with standards compliance but with many other things.

Take a look here to see what the team is up to.

Also, this is not just on DNN's end, it is on module developers as well.

In short, DNN opted for flexibility, ease of use, and a hundred other things. Because of this, standards-compliance was but on the back burner. But that does NOT mean that anyone has forgotten about it or will not work on it. Just be patient.

Christopher Koeber

One of the biggest problems in this regard -- assuming you are talking about 3.3 or less -- is Visual Studio, which turns out invalid HTML.  That is something the core can do very little about in the .NET 1.1 versions of DNN.

Well, that's good to hear.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to see it in action soon
