Yes, it does http://dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryID/444/Default.aspx. If this is more search engine friendly I do not know.

No, the new DNNMenu is not search engine friendly. 
You will still need to find alternate ways to make sure spiders can navigate your site if you use the DNNMenu.

I know you weren't asking me, but my tests show that a search engine only sees javascript and cannot follow the link, or even read what they say.  If you find such a tool, put in a site and look at it.  The best you might get is the top level menu.
