I have a customer that is managing their portal on my host site. They want to use some of Google's tools to check how their site is doing. As a part of the process Google has instructed them to install am HTML file off their root domain like www.mydomain.com/google111222.html so that Google can access the site to confirm that they own the site. I am trying to figure out how to get a file at the root. If I just install it at the root using file manager, then you have to use the portals/#/ method to get to the file, don't you.

Any ideas? This could be really simple, I am just not readily finding a solution.

Thanks.

I think it depends on what you are using - for example, I use the Google Sitemaps module (from Bite the Bullet) and Google needs the HTML file in the root.

I put this in the website root, NOT at portal level (but I have multiple sitemaps for multiple parent portals on that domain.
In Google SiteMaps, each site I have uses the SAME html file - hence it's valid for all my sites (eg. google3995b7e......html)

So I guess it depends exactly what tools they are using and what you are trying to achieve? Actually sorry, I just reread your question - are you asking more HOW to put the file at website root level through the UI? If this is the case then I don't think it is possible - you'll have to FTP it.

Can't you just FTP the file to the proper location?  I use Google for stuff too.  When registering my sitemap with Google I had to upload a file also, but it was no big deal.

Maybe I am missing something.

FTP the file to the root of the DNN installation. Worked for me.
