One complaint I have with DNN is regarding the registration & subscription.  A "general" user (someone NOT familiar with DNN) will have a hell of a confusing time subscribing to the various user groups.  You have to really spell out what the user needs to do to subscribe to the various levels.  Many users' (who are not very computer saavy) won't be able to remember a list of directions.  Remember, there are still MANY users' out there that don't know that you can open TWO BROWSWER WINDOWS!

Has anyone built/used/seen a DNN site that has this type of functionality in it?  I know Scott McCulloch's "Subscription Tools" would help in this area, but a page was still needed to spell out the steps in subscribing.

I would think ideally you could place the subscription selection DURING registration OR have a redirect after registration that  could shoot the user to the subscription page.

Anybody have any ideas?

Someone correct me if I am mistaken, but I believe that what you specify as the Home page in Admin-->Site Settings is where a user gets redirected to after a successful login.

Not sure the subscription selection during registration would be wise, especially for sites using Verified registration.

We use the UCanUse module for our registration forms. It gives us a lot more control. You can pick what fields you want shown on the field, which ones are required and are able to add new fields. After a person registers you can have them re-directed to a certain page and or added to a specific role. On one of my websites I have the user register with the ucanuse module, then it re-directs them to my subscription module from Ventrian, and once you select which role you would like it brings you to paypal to pay for it and then it redirects you back to a specified page you select when you set up the ventrian subscription module. I also have a list of steps on the left side of the registration and subscription page so the user knows what step they are doing and what they have left to do. Hope this helps.

That sounds like an excellent setup, I'd like to know more about it in detail.

One of my requirements for a client is during registration, ask what type of registration (Employee, Customer, etc). User entry fields for new registrations would change based on that selection.

There would also be different redirects based on type of user (Employees to Employee Home, Customers to Customer Home, etc.)

Is this possible with that module? I am trying to avoid having to write something myself, but will if need be.

Thanks

No, you shouldn't have to write anything yourself. Yes, you could have a field that asks the user if they are a customer or employee or something. Then you would have to set up an action based on their answer that could put them into the correct role and page re-direct. Sorry for the quick response. I am very busy this morning. I can go over what I have done in more detail this afternoon or tomorrow. If you have any other questions please post them and I will answer them asap.
