Nick,

Try this, before you try installing DNN, remove all of the modules EXCEPT the Text/HTML module and the Links module from the Install/Modules folder of your install.

To clarify, you will only be installing the Text/HTML and Links module.

Once you do that, go to the site to kick off the install process. Let us know if this works.

I had the same issue, it's not an IE 7 issue, it is a thread time out issue. I too have been using IE7 for months and have no issues other than some skin formatting issues that only crop up in IE 7 (Beta or Final, no matter).

I think I ran into this problem a ways back, my problem was I was using the starter kit I assumed that if I created a database in my appcode folder with a name I used in another appcode folder they would be unique. So I was trying to install against the same corrupt database each time. I changed the database name to something new and it worked.

So. try using a database name like DNNForumSuggestion since you haven't tried that.

It took me forever to figure out what I was doing wrong.

This is clearly NOT a database issue, it is connnecting and performing scripts. This is a thread timeout issue as the error points to.

Nick,

Try my suggestion above by only installing the two modules I suggested during the DNN install process. I'd be suprised if it DIDN'T work. You can manually install the remaining modules if and when you need them.

If you try and use a different name for the DB or moved the location, you're only adding another issue to your problem, and one you don't need.

I had same results everything worked then it failed creating the portal, maybe because the portal already existed or something I really don't know. If he is stuck, I think using a new database name is worth a shot. The scripts did execute when I was having this problem.

If your suggestion works then that's great, if it doesn't give the dbname thing a shot.
