I host my site with WH4L and to be honest I have had little problems. There support is not as fast as the support I got from DotNetPark, but WH4L do respond and have sorted about 99% of my problems.

The reason I moved from DNP was the limit on bandwidth and the fact they only gave me 200Mb of disk space. I get 2Gig on WH4L and unlimited bandwidth, as my site is currently 250Mb you can see why I moved to them.

As for speeds with WH4L my site only gets about 7,000 to 10,000 hits per month so is only a small site but I see no problems. Yes speeds do tend to go slower when USA wakes up  but to be honest if you trend all hosting companies you will see a trend of peeks and dips in speeds. Also I have only had 1 instance of downtime in just under a year with WH4L and I contacted them via live chat and the problem was resolved in 5 mins.

So in my oppinion you will always find you get what you pay for, DNP a little more expensive when I was with them but very good Technicla support but crap diskspace. WH4L average support good diskspace. Other companies ??????

I've been running about 10 portals on WH4L's cheapie plan for about 6 months now.  I will say that early on, I had terrible performance problems until I did some research.  I now use the blowery compression utility and do not use ANY logging whatsoever on my sites.  I know this is leaves me at a huge disadvantage if something does go wrong, but the slowdown I experienced even with minimal logging made me turn them off.

I can say from first hand experience that the precompiling issue is real and seems to be more of a problem on some portals than others (? weird).  There are "keepalive" services out there and I've used one for a month or so, and it definitely helps.   If WH4L offered a similar service, I would endorse them 100% - but since they don't, and you are stuck waiting sometimes, I'd say I only endorse them 75%.  :)

I've hosted my site www.avalonbeadstore.com with Webhost4life for 5 months now and have had numerous occasions of long term downtime, especially during peak hours of the day when our business is booming. We've lost plenty of money due to this repeated downtime and after several attempts with their support to iron out the problem (which they said EVERY time was due to someone abusing server resources) we are at our wits end. It's a lot of work to research new hosting companies, select one with everything you need, and move your site, but at this point we are willing to do the work. After emailing the CEO very cordially but sternly about this problem, we have received no response but from support saying "Oh, the site is fine. It's up and running." WELL WHAT ABOUT THE HOURS OF DOWNTIME EVERY OTHER DAY?!! The point is these people really don't care whether your site is up or not. There's only so many "No response from server" errors you can get before you have to make a decision to change hosts. We're not looking forward to this.

Bottom line... Don't bother with Webhost4life. It's NOT a lifelong relationship.
