Hello..

I have an announcements module on a page.  Within the RTF box, I've entered about 3 or 4 paragraphs with 5-6 lines into each paragraph.

I think I have a misunderstanding as to how this works, but I'd like for the for couple lines of the first paragraph to only be displayed with the read more underneath.  I would think that the READ MORE would just expand the announcements so you can see more.

Is this not how it works?  Does the read more link take you to another page to display the full information?

Also, How do I add the read more link to my information list?

Thanks..

You use the Announcements Module to display a summary/teaser and then read more links to somewhere else outside of the module, eg a page on your site, a URL to another site. It sounds like the Blog Module is more suited to what you want.

EDIT: You also asked how to add the read more link, simply set the Link Type under the editor window when editing the summary.

Just to further clarify my earlier post, take the scenario of an online newspaper, which will have a news section with an article/story per page. On (say) the home page there might be a version of the Announcements Module with summaries of the current news and read more links to the relevant pages containing the full articles in the news section.

The Blog Module has two editors, one for the summary and the other for the full article with the read more link displaying the full article within the module. Some might say the Blog Module is overkill but, having used it extensively for a couple for years, it's actually quite straighforward.

The current Blog 4.1.1 does has its problems but if your needs are simple then it is quite usable, I would try it out. The new Blog 5.0.0 seems to fix the aforementioned problems but is currently at RC stage (and we've already been waiting a long time for it to get to a public release stage) and not for production sites.

Can you tell me what the name of the Blog module is that you use? There are so many in the dnn store that it's hard to pick one. I need exactly what this guy is asking for. I want just one line to show on the main part and then a read more link to the rest of the article that is several paragraphs long. I also need it to allow uploading of imagery and video. I need one that is straight forward and easy to use with not much coding/configuring to do with it as my users aren't very tech friendly. Any suggestions?
