I've been trying to figure out how to edit the Read More token to only show 2 lines of text under the header and then click the read more link to show the rest of the article that can be several paragraphs long.  I can't figure it out as I'm not really a programmer.  I know enough to be dangerous, but I don't know how to do this.  Can anyone guide me through this?  I'm sure there are some really good programmers out there who have this figured already as the module has been around a long time. And I would be so appreciative of the help! I'm using Announcements 4.0.3 with DNN 7.3.1

Newsletter being replaced by news announcements - Tuesday, July 22, 2014

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here'  read more......

Hi Lark,

I haven't used the module in a looong time but if it is possible you might be able to add some asp.net logic in the template like this:

<% Left([token] ,100) %> read more>

replace the [Token] with the token you want to shorten.

the 100 is how many charactors you want to display on the line before the 'Read more' button.

I haven't tried this so make sure you try it locally ad I don't know if you can add logic in the templates but it might be worth a try.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Geoff

Thank you for your help. I'm not a programmer and I'd be afraid to get into the pages code.  I think I'll have to end up buying something to work for our situation.  I appreciate the help though.

You may want to look at the Ventrian News Articles module (www.ventrian.com). It should do what you're looking for (and is well worth the price).
