Hi!

I miss the the older feature where I can set an "Expire date" to an announcement. It has now been replaced by "Release date".

Is there any possibilites to have this feature back in the module again?

The next version (03.03.05) will do a "soft reintroduce", which means the field will be reintroduced for upgrade purposes, but invisible. The version after that will see a full reintroduction.. no timeframe yet though, i'm only in planning stages for that version

cheers,

Erik

Ahhhhrrr... Please give us back the "expire date"!! Why have you removed it from this version?

I'd like to echo that request too...  I've had tons of questions from my users of why that option isn't there anymore.

I just upgraded to DNN 4.3.5, which included Anouncements v3.3.4, so I take it this option re-introduction is quite far away?

Arrg!  We just upgraded our 19 websites from DNN 4.0.3 to 4.3.5 and had all the old announcements pop back up.  (Yes, we pre-tested the upgrade on a test server but missed this bit about the expiry date of old announcements.)

We didn't want to have to delete our old announcements as we have found the 'history' to be useful at times but I saw no way to hide them on an individual basis now that the previous "Expire" feature is not supported.  Worse still, the "Expire Date" data seems to have been dropped from the database.  This is forcing us to perform a manual search-and-delete of the announcements module-by-module, website-by-website using the module interface instead of writing a cleanup DB script based on the previously-supported expiry date.

It seems very odd to me that this feature was dropped.  Thanks DNN team for the ongoing improvements and support and for the replies to this thread confirming that the "Expire Date" is on the list as a future feature.   I'm quite happy with the DNN experience overall but I felt the need to express dissapointment and a bit of frustration in this particular feature not being supported through the new (current) version of the module.  Please put it back in soon!
