Hi,

I'm using DNN 3.1.1. and I (stupidly I think) just upgraded to the new Announcement module (3.03.0.5) and now I'm unable to add any announcements. I keep getting the following error:
Error: News is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: The type initializer for "DotNetNuke.Modules.Announcements.DataProvider" threw an exception. ---> System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for "DotNetNuke.Modules.Announcements.DataProvider" threw an exception. ---> System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.TypeLoadException: ? at DotNetNuke.Modules.Announcements.SqlDataProvider..ctor() --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.RuntimeType.CreateInstanceImpl(Boolean publicOnly) at System.Activator.CreateInstance(Type type, Boolean nonPublic) at DotNetNuke.Framework.Reflection.CreateObject(String TypeName, String CacheKey) at DotNetNuke.Framework.Reflection.CreateObject(String ObjectProviderType, String ObjectNamespace, String ObjectAssemblyName) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Announcements.DataProvider.CreateProvider() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Announcements.DataProvider..cctor() --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at DotNetNuke.Modules.Announcements.DataProvider.Instance() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Announcements.AnnouncementsController.GetAnnouncements(Int32 ModuleId, DateTime StartDate, DateTime EndDate) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Announcements.Announcements.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I'd love to hear any ideas??

what part of "minimal required version = 3.3.0 / 4.3.0" did you not understand ;)

the easiest would be if you had a db backup, just restore the backup, and restore the 3.1.1. version of the module. If you dont have backups available, you can try a "downgrade", if you have access to the db, locate the table "desktopmodules" and locate in that table the row for the Announcements module. Reset the version to 00.00.00, and reïnstall the dnn 3.1.1. announcement module (that would be announcements version 3.1)

you might loose data in the announcements module, be sure to keep a backup of the data, so you can manually add the data back if needed.

good luck
