I'm still hunting high and low for someone or some way to add image management with DNN/FCK.... As far as I'm concerned, it's the single biggest barrier to a functionally complete content management experience with DNN.

In any case, today I found two such addons for FCK. They're both for the PHP crowd, but I thought I'd post them here in case some savvy developer decides to have a crack at doing the same thing for us DNN ppl.

On my hosting account I actually have PHP.. I wonder if I would be able to install one of these and make it work?

FCKeditor provider supports creating your own image gallery

Just follow the included gallery as a sample and point the URL from the web.config to your new gallery. The idea is to give people the ability to build bigger and better image galleries without touching the provider core.

Hope it helps

Note: You can use the language you want, but you must take into account security management (Who can access a specific folder/file)

The main thing I'm trying to do with this and other threads is to stimulate discussion of image management as part of the Editor, because this is the only logical place for such functionality to reside. I understand that FCK is seperate from the FCK Provider from the development side of things, but for the end user they are one and the same. Any form of image management must also fall under the same umbrella, and that is why I target this project with the discussion.

This is particulary important to bring up right now since you are in charge of reviewing the editor functionality for DNN, and in the same way I promoted your FCK provider on many occasions in the past to become part of the core, I am now promoting some form of image management to become a permanent and managed part of the core.

I wouldn't want to see it pushed aside as something people should do themselves. I think that any project looking into the broader aspects of editing information in DNN should try and find tools and people who are able to work on image management.

The customisable gallery page you provided is of course a perfect spot for inserting tools, but I'm afraid i'm no developer so I can't really do anything useful beyond asking for it to be included as part of the editor strategy rather than just leaving a blank spot for it.

Hope that makes sense.

Rob
