Hi Mauricio and all,

I run about a dozen portals on a single DNN 4.51 instance and it normally works very well. I use the customisation features of the FCK provider to apply toolbars for specific roles across the portal and that also works very well.

Just now I logged into one portal and the FCK editor is no longer there. It only displays the plain text box with html in it instead of formatted text. I'm checking in both IE7 and Firefox2 and it's the same.

I'm checking the other portals and everything is fine - FCK works in all of them. What would cause this to happen in just one portal and how can I restore the editor?

Any advice is very much appreciated... this is a bit of a worry

Regards,
Rob

You options

1) Enable the FCKdebugMode flag at web config and see if more information is generated at the page where the editor is located

2) Contact me by mail. I need to "see it" to give you more tips

Thank you very much for the reply.

  1. I've now set FCKDebugMode="true" in the web.config and checked the faulty portal. It displays the textbox only, same as before.
  2. When I check in another portal, I can see the debug information correctly.

It looks as if the FCK editor has somehow been switched off for the one portal. No errors are reported and when I look at the page source it has no reference to FCK, only the textbox.

Ok.. this is interesting. I have just now created a new host account to send to you so that you could see it happening. I logged into the new account to test it and now the editor works. I will log in with an admin account and see if it also works... ok, yes it works.

So the actual problem is: The FCK editor stopped working for one host account in one portal, but works for all other accounts in this portal and for the same host account in all other portals.

I'll try using the new host account to clear the FCK settings. No that didn't work. The settigns cleared correctly, but the editor still will not show up for my original host account in this one portal. It works fine in the others. Very strange.

Does that make any sense to you Mauricio? I'll send the login through if you think it is worth having a look at?

Regards,
Rob

Hello again,

I was able to restore the editor by deleting and then recreating the faulty host account. I added the exact same account again and FCK now displays to that account.

What do you think... is this something to worry about?

Just in case, I'm going to maintain more than one host account from now on.
