This issue keeps coming up again and again in these discussions. To me it is illogical to want the editor to display the content being edited in a different style to the one it will be displayed with on the page.

For example - why would you want normal text to be displayed in the editor as Times New Roman when on the page it will be displayed in Verdana? It just causes confusion for end users. It also causes unnecessary work - for example, users who don't realise that the content will be "transformed" into the site style dutifully changing all Times New Roman text to Verdana within the editor!

I request that in the next release of DNN, the CSSDefaultMode setting in web.config is set to "dynamic" rather than "static". I know that the provider does not contain the web.config, but maybe Mauricio can make the request that this change is made.

Please note - I am NOT requesting that the Style dropdown in the editor is populated with the DNN styles. That might also be useful for some people, but that is not this request.

I second the motion. Being a DNN newbie, I could not for the life of me figure out why the style/look/feel created in the FCK editor looked as I wanted, then looked totally different once updated on the page...and still can't figure out how to get the editor to override my (I think this is the cuplrit) skin.css,

Can I get the editor to override the css by setting it to dynamic in the 'custom editor options' window? I went in the 'editor area CSS' and set it to dynamic there, but to no avail...no idea what I am doing, other than struggling to get the editor output to look like I had it set when I update the page.

Terp, thanks for the support.

You can find lots of posts about setting the editor area CSS in this forum. Here is a search for "CSSDefaultMode" in this forum courtesy of www.searchdotnetnuke.com:

http://www.google.com/search?&q=site:http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/127+CSSDefaultMode

Please can we not turn this thread into another discussion about how to set the editor area CSS? The purpose of this thread is to make a request of Mauricio and/or the DNN team to make a change in the setup of the FCKEditor provider such that this problem goes away.

I like the idea and it was the default for some time. The problem was that generating styles on the fly could cause the editor to load slower (Depending on the number of styles included in your portal.css, skin.css, module.css ,etc.). However, the code has been enhanced and now uses some cache techniques so we can test possible performance issues again.

I will comeback wilt more information soon.
