Hi,

We are trying to customize the FCKEditor image upload tab through a custom connector using this method:

http://wiki.fckeditor.net/Developer's_Guide/Configuration/Built_in_File_Browser

http://wiki.fckeditor.net/FileBrowserLanguage

What we want to obtain is image resizing (choose the size from the interface, through one of 3 comboboxes), some description fields for the image, and saving this description information in the database.

We are not sure that this method will work, or if there's a better way to obtain what I described. What do you think?

Thanks.

Andrei

Is there any method for customizing the FCKEditor image upload?

Thanks.

It can be fully customized:

1) You can design new templates (two templates are included). Templates only change the way that the gallery how its objects. It doesn't add any new functionality

2) You can create your own Image Gallery by creating your own .aspx. You can write your own code by following the fckimagegallery.aspx as an example. Then just update the image gallery URL at your web config to point to your new .aspx

Your code could be inside your own custom .dll without any problem

Note: Take care of following all asp.net security rules when uploading files, managing URLs. I suggest you to always follow the DNN permissions for files and folders.

Andrei,

I'm super-keen to see if you manage to come up with something along those lines. Some form of image processing directly in the fck workflow is the holy grail for 100% of my users.

I'm no developer, so can't really help in that area, but I have been playing with Ghost River Image upload, which is a seperate module, and also the Xmod addon 'Fat George File upload". The Ghost River developer encourages re-using the module in other projects and perhaps you might find it useful to check out. It'd be cool if it were able to be placed on the image gallery of the fck editor provider. The one problem I've found is that it generates some pretty awful quality resizes, but anything is better than nothing at this stage. I've yet to test the Xmod item and it might be better, but again, it doesn't sit within the FCK workflow and I don't know how to put it there.
