I recently tried to install FckHtmlEditorProvider_01.00.09_Install.zip on my 4.6.0 DNN setup. I received the following error: (truncated for brevity)

...

Info File Providers/HtmlEditorProviders/Fck/IE Custom\Intructions.Text read successfully

Info Loading Install.txt

Info File Install.txt read successfully

Failure Did not find any .dnn file ???

Failure ExceptionSystem.Exception: File load failed, aborting at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaInstaller.ReadZipStream() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaInstaller.Install()

Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone succesfully installed 1.0.9 on 4.6.0?

If you installed DNN 4.6.0 then isn't FCK Editor 1.0.9 included in that version?

Have you installed a fresh version of DNN or upgraded from a previous release?

It may well be that 4.6.0 includes 1.0.9 for the full install. I don't know the answer there. In my understanding, however, the upgrade version of a DNN release does not include or update any modules. I am curious, though, whether or not the same goes for providers such as FCKeditor. My operating assumption is that it did not. (Can anyone weigh in on this?)

In this case, this was an existing version that was upgraded to 4.6.0 using the upgrade release.

Regardless of whether 1.0.9 is already installed on the server (it may well be) this error *seems* to have nothing to do with it being already installed but more with a missing file in the install package.

If this error does come from 1.0.9 being already installed, then A little error clarification on the installer seems in order. This would suprise me as I have succesfully installed modules of the same version multiple times without error. (in troubleshooting, etc.)

Another note: To my knowledge, there isn't a dnn page analogous to the "Module Definitions" page that lists the installed versions of providers such as FCKeditor. I'd gather that the assembly itself may have a version number (which I can go dig out), but that may a bit obscure for a (non-programmer) end user.

Install.txt within the FckHtmlEditorProvider_01.00.09_Install.zip file explains the install process in detail. It IS NOT by any chance to be installed through Module Definitions like you'd install any other module, you have to copy files physically to the server (that's why the .dnn file is missing) and modify web.config file.

Hope this helps.

Yeah that helps. When I originally installed FckEditor, it wasn't an official DNN module, and so the xcopy install + web.config change is familiar to me. For some reason I seem to remember installing later releases via the module definitions page. Did that EVER work? or am I just hallucinating.... Anyway, I think i can take it from here.
