 Hi All,

I hope someone can help me.  I find on our DNN installation that the Text/HTML module just doesn't take up the formatting users give selected text, particularly where it has been copied in from Word.  When I check the source behind the text for users I can see that the HTML being created is essentially just junk, a particular problem seems to be that tags are never actually removed from the code when formatting code - extra tags just get dumped on top of it.

I can fix this if I go into the source code and manually tidy up all the HTML, although this defeats the object of the CMS itself, in that people within the company are supposed to be able to update these modules themselves without relying on IT having to help out.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can rectify this?  I've looked through threads in this forum and just don't know where to start!

Many Thanks,

Tom

This is a limitation in what the FCK editor can cleanup.  I have found that my users have had better luck, when they are using the RadEditor, which is what I use for all new client site setups now, due to this helpful item.

If you have questions, feel free to e-mail me msellers@iowacomputergurus.com, as without forum notifications I often loose threads for tracking

There is a 'Paste from Word' option in the toolbar, which should clean most word stuff, but you can also use the 'Paste as plain text' option to get rid of all junk.
And if even that won't work, you can always first paste to notepad, and then to FCK.

This is I.M.H.O. a limitation of word. Microsoft word is well known for including a lot of garbage into content. Most on-line editors try to clean the source but most of times is is a very difficult work.

There are a lot of tools out there to help users to clean the code:

http://textism.com/wordcleaner/

http://www.algotech.dk/word-html-cleaner-input.htm

http://word2cleanhtml.com/

Maybe we will never know why is this happening inside word.
