Hello,

I'm trying to use a custom query wich will get Points from an external SQL database. I can run the query through Entreprise Manager and it conforms to the Map_Points table structure.

When I transfer the TSQL into the module and add the Connection String, the module simply reports "fetching...", but no Points are shown.

In the "connection String" field I'm using:

Driver={SQL Server};Server=myServerAddress;Database=myDataBase;Uid=myUsername;Pwd=myPassword;

Is this what is expected for the connection string field or am I doing something wrong here?

Can anyone provide samples for a custom query setup on a separate SQL server database, since the documentation doesn't show a connection string for a custom query?

Thanks

Hi Luis

I tried something similar, what i did is just attached the mdf file (in App_Data) to my local sql server. now DNN is not running but giving me some permissions error.

then i tried to change the connectionstrings, there are two in web.config, i changed both to regular one i use to, but still its not running. :(

If u find a solution please let me know.

thanks

Sorry for the delay - I had to review the current security changes in the build that was released. Its a little non-intuitive, but to be certain of maintaining security regardless of the edit user, I originally made it so that the connection string was ALWAYS stored in the web.config file. And, in addition, it uses the SQL Client for executing the connection. So for you to be able to connect to an external database - add a key under appSettings in the web.config. Name it something like "MyMapConnection" and then in the Custom Connection - set the value to MyMapConnection.

Hi Luis and Ahmada,

If you want to access local server, just leave Connection String blank.

Enjoy,

I want to access the local server - but, not the same SQL dbms.

But, putting in a connection string doesn't work.
