sirs,

If i retrieve information from a main portal say, name, and then I would like to add a record in the users database of DNN (like automatically register the person), using the name as a username field how could I possibly do that? Thanks for any information sirs.

John

There are various methods to integrate data into DotNetNuke.  Are you looking at performing a one time load of users from another system?  Or are you looking for a periodic transfer from another system?

There are batch registration tools available out there for loading multiple users into the system at once, you could also look at adding users via the database (However, remember that you must be careful using htis method).

sir mitchel! thanks for the reply and sorry for my delay.

I need new users that entered a site (and automatically logging them in, using a custom module I created with help from the forums) and see if they are registered users of my dotnetnuke. if not, then I should add them automatically in the 'users' table of dotnetnuke on the fly.... that's it sir. so I don't need really batch registration tools i guess. just a simple algorithm, and to place it where in the core code (or i hope not there, il just create a module) and then get them in there...

thanks sir mitchel,

john

It appears you are looking for a "Single-Sign-On" type of module, if you are desiring the auto registration.  I am not sure if there are any modules out there that allow that type of integration.

Have you looked on SnowCovered?  I do know that you cannot accomplish this via the out of the box functionality of DNN.

i have not sir. but i will check snowcovered for such module. I was thinking if I can connect through vb.net, simple connection to a database such as the simple DAL+ tutorial, try to input the passed parameters (e.g. name, employee number, etc etc) into the users table of dotnetnuke to work something like an autoregistration. but the autolog-in mechanism is already in place, thanks to fooberichu but there are some little problems. thanks sir mitchel, I'll update you in this endeavor. thanks!
