I have installed the latest release of the Report Module on a DNN 4.8, and I am trying to activate Report Services and Chart.

I have followed the instructions given in the Install.TXT files located in ExtVisualizers directory. However after  completing step 3 (the directory "Reporting Services" is created in Visualizers), I could not use this extension.

The extension does not appears in the extension list both in Module Settings and in the Package list.

I created manually a manifest file in the "Reporting Services" directory but this does not solve the issue.

I also try to use the "Install New DNN Reports Visualizer Package" option using a Zip file provided in previous module version  but I only get " A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object" .

If anybody could tell me how to activate both packages that's will be helpfull.

Thanks for you help.

Just to give more information about the issue.

I had a portal running DNN 4.6.2 with Report Module 4.5.2.

On this portal I was able to install both Chart and Reports Services extensions succesfully.

Then I upgrade the portal to DNN 4.8.0, the extensions were still working.

Then I upgradre Report Module to release 5.0., the installation was OK but, then I get this message:

There was an error loading the visualizer, ensure it is compatible with this version of the module

When I look to the list of Add-ins the Chart and Report Services extensions have disapeared. Is this a bug ?

This is not a bug, you must reinstall those extensions in 5.0 since they had to be updated due to breaking changes. Your settings should be preserved, so once you install the Visualizers again, they should work fine.

The issue is that if I try to install again the visualisers I get :

A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

And nothing is installed.

This happens on 2 hosts.

This is the detail of the event :

It seems this issue is with the Package Installer itself (which is part of the DNN Core) so I will forward the details on to someone responsible for that. For now, I'll post a Bug into our Bug Tracker so you can follow the progress of this issue. The Issue # is: RPT-6989.
