I use several Announcements on the same portal.
I'd like to display the top 3 Announcements on my homepage (with a link).

I know nothing about SQL.
Can I begin with...

SELECT TOP 3

Title,

Description

FROM

Announcements

WHERE

PortalID=4

ORDER BY

PublishDate DESC

How can I extract the link to the page?

Bill,

A link to which page? The page where you display ALL of the Announcements? Simply find the URL of that page and use either an XSL or HTML template output for that.

Or are you wanting the title to link to the full text of the selected announcement? In that case, you'd need to use another Report module and use QueryStrings to pull up the desired announcement.

You may find it easier to use a different module for this. The Repository module or Ventrian News Articles module (www.ventrian.com) are ones that immediately spring to mind. The Form & List module might also suit your needs.

Thanks Mike for your reply.
I feel less lonely.

Your 1st idea was the right one.
I need to extract the link to the page where the Announcements module is.
I'd like to create a sort of What's new module on my homepage with that Report module.

Do you think it's a good solution?
Wouldn't that interest many webmasters who use several Announcements on their webite? (Announcements that could be filled by several editors)

Bill,

If I were looking for a free solution, I'd probably go with the Form & List module. The settings of the Report module are only accessible to the Host user, while a portal Administrator COULD adjust F&L module settings.
