Does the Reports module fail when you comment out that line? I believe that this line is only technically required if the sub-directory contains code written in a different language than the other directories (C# in DNN's case), but I'm just going on memory here so I might be wrong.

Good question. I had assumed the module would fail after commenting out that line, but in fact the missing line seems to have no bad effect.

I commented out the line and tested an existing portal that uses the Reports module. The existing reports show up just fine. Next I tested by adding a new report. That works just fine too. I don't see any problem after commenting out the line in web.config. :)
