Dear Friends

On cing the output window, while debugging the "website",it takes a lot of time to build the /website/admin folder itself

It takes nearly 10 minutes to build this folder. as i wish to debug the code, i am not publishing it or hosting in iis

When i choose, build pages or no build in the property pages/build option, it is quick

When i choose, build website, it is taking hell of time

Is there a way to quicky build the website, as the changes i made has to be reflected while running the website or is it enought to build the specific changed page alone, which would enable me faster build process.

What is the difference between "Build Website" and "Build page" in the Build option of the properties window.

Kndly clarify me

Your replies would be appreciated

Regards
deepak

Are you developing custom modules, or are you making modifications to the DNN application itself?

If developing custom modules I would recommend looking at the WAP (web application project) method for module development. Mitch Sellers has some blog posts regarding his approach.

Hi Deepak,

if you are developing custom modules, without editing the core, use the DNN install version and the WSP model: the website will build in 2 or three seconds, and you can debug instantly. You can also edit source during debug without stopping, to see your changes in action. This is the way I develop my simple custom modules and is very fast, even on my old crappy laptop. Once you're done, package all the files and you're ready to go on production.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa
