Hi,

I have created several modules and within these modules I would like to create and send custom emails (depending on the data within the module).  Please advise on whether I should use the built-in DNN emailing functionality or create custom emails (i.e. System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient)?  I would also like the emailing code to be available to all of my modules (i.e. generic code).

(My custom modules load data from the database into GRIDVIEWS.  Depending on the data that is loaded, if the data contains an error/warning I would like to generate an email and send it with a message to a member of staff alerting them of the warning/error.)

Thanks.

Jimmy

you should use DotNetnuke.Services.Mail.Mail.send, which fetches the SMTP settings for you and performs the send operations. However, this is not prepared for mass mails, you may need to create a queue yourself , if you want to send out mass mails from your modules. There are plans to rewrite this feature for future DNN versions (but will stay compatible with dotnetnuke send method).
