Hello,
I am an experienced .net developer but have been only two days involved
in dotnetnuke.
I figured out how to add pages with the admin control panel but wonder what
will happen if I now just add a page using the Visual Web Developer IDE
[Add New Item] -> "Web form" and start creating my page from there.

Will/can it still be administered using the admin console?
Do I break anything by adding and linking to by own pages?
Datasource wise. Should I utilize the dotnet info/BLL/DLL/SQL layered "idee" to
connect my gridview etc. to the database ?

thanks,
metalray

I encourage you to explore the way DNN works. Everything is added through a single page. It is possible to add additional pages, however you will lose a lot of the functionality. For example: security, roles, context are handled via the default.aspx.

It is possible to reuse the classes that implement this features, but you will end up redoing what has already been done. Please download the module developers guide to learn the recommended way of extending DotNetNuke.
