Hello everyone,

I'm starting to write my first DNN module, I have read some docs about data access. I'd like to know if there is a simple way to execute a query without "hard-coding" all the classes needed for DAL / BLL. Suppose I want simply to obtain a "SELECT COUNT(*) as X FROM TABLE" result, how can I launch the query and obtain the "X" value?

Thank you

FL

Hi Eclipse,

You can execute any storedprocedure using following single line

Dim ds As DataSet = DotNetNuke.Data.DataProvider.Instance().ExecuteDataSet("YourProcedureName",parameter1,parameter2..)

also you can execute following with same code

ExecuteSQL, ExecuteScript,  ExecuteScalar,  ExecuteDataSet,  ExecuteReader,  ExecuteNonQuery
