I create the DNN 5.1.1 module in C# in VS2008
(Starter Kit)

\DesktopModules\MyModuleName
has the generated sql script
01.00.00.SqlDataProvider
which contains except
{databaseOwner}
{objectQualifier}
also
$safeprojectname$

It appears only in context of
{objectQualifier}$YourCompany$_$safeprojectname$.CreatedDate

What it is for and how-where to work-define-substitute it?
Why it is created only in context of  CreatedDate field?

 Hi Guennadi,

$safeprojectname% is a token that is used in the Visual Studio Template for DNN modules (i.e. the DNN Start Kit). It is supposed to be replaced with the name of the project that you enter when you do File -> New -> Project in Visual Studio. However, in this case it obviously wasnt' replaced (perhaps its a typo?). Feel free to remove this token and make it consistent with the other SQL that was created.

Hope that helps,

Ian

Hi, Ian,
thanks for your reply.

I am returning to .NET after 2 years interval.
I am using VS2008 but I recall that Web Application Project (WAP) in VS2005 required VS add-in to be installed.

I guess it is the same in VS2008, is it?.
I do not have it installed and I use creationg/opening website from File System and from Local IIS.

Does your answer imply that the correct sql script generation is bound to WAP engagement?
So far, I did not see much sense in getting it installed

Can you give me more points in prol of installing it?
What is the common practice?
For ex., I saw from my other posts that I am getting some problems that others do not reproduce.
Can it be understood that others use WAP?

Having said this how should have looked correctly substituted $safeprojectname$?
by website name?
I cannot tell that I feel sure to make anything consistent yet in DNN with other sql scripts
though I removed the token

The Web Application project type is built in to Visual Studio 2008 from the get go. It was a part of VS 2003, they removed it for the first version of 2005, added it quickly back in a 2005 service pack, and with 2008 it is natively included.

Although I can't know for sure - I'm betting the 'bug' your'e seeing is not related to the type of project, rather, it's an issue with the visual studio template itself.

You should be able to replace $safeprojectname$ with the same text that you had entered for "Project Name" when you created the new project from the Visual Studio template.

Hope that helps,

Ian
