I am sure this is do-able, I just haven't been able to find the answer on these forums yet. I simply want to make sure that all new registrants of my site provide me an email from a certain domain. For example, I want my site to allow only those registrants who provide an email address in the form of username@yahoo.com. If the email is not from the domain yahoo.com, I would need to prevent the user from registring and then provide my own error message telling them why they cannot register.

Basically, the company wants only its own employees to be able to register for this site. So they want the registration process to send a confirmation email, and the user would click on a link in the email to complete the registration. I am VERY new to DNN but from what I have read so far, I think most of this is standard except for the part where I verify the user's email address.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. As is the case with most posts, time is of the essence :)

Hi,

You can set in site setting a page where to go to for registration. There you an create own custom module or at least put registrion (account module). In site settings you might also be interested in 'public', 'private', 'after approval of site owner. maybe this helps.

You can also create a regex which only allows 'yahoo.com' emails...

Thanks "Store Integrator", your 2nd suggestion will do the trick for me. I actually found the same answer on a different website before I read your reply. For anyone looking for the solution, this was implemented in DNN 4.5 where an admin user can go into the User Settings Page (Admin > User Accounts > User Settings) and change the default regular expression being used to validate email addresses. If you also want to change the error message displayed, you can do that in [DesktopModules\Admin\Security\App_LocalResources\User.ascx.resx].

From Admin, Site Settings, Advanced Settings, Security Settings...change User Registration to Verified.

From Admin, User Accounts, choose User Settings from the User Accounts drop-down.

Scroll down to the E-Mail Address validation.  Locate the @ in the validation and replace the text after the @ with the required e-mail domain.
