Hi I designed my site using DNN. For the past few weeks my site files getting virus.  It has unwanted codes and Scripts in that. I removed that and I again replaced the cleaned-up files. But it getting that encrypted codes and Scripts again and again. Google webmasters shows that my site should harmfull to open. My site allows the authorized user to enter blog entries. Most of the pages affected are blog entry pages. How can I get rid of it? Please provide any fix and suggest how to prevent from these type hacking?

Thanks in advance.

  • Which DNN version are you using? you should upgrade at least to 4.9.5 or on DNN 5 to 5.1.4 (5.2.1 when available)
  • make sure using latest version of 3rd party modules
  • intruder may use a other software than DotNetNuke, e.g. due to missing security patches for windows or a weak ftp password. Check the server event logs for anything suspicious.

Hi thanks for your reply.

I am using version 5. I didn't use any third party modules too. I have a strong password.

Thanks in advance.

check windows eventlog and check DNN Eventlog for logins, but it is more likely the user bypassed UI and got access directly to the database. use a dedicated SQL user and revoke edit permission for all others.
