As I recall, the issue in DNN 5.4.0 which Chris refers to was a null reference exception thrown when code in PageBase attempted to add an AJAX  ScriptManager to an aspx page which did not have a valid server-side form tag (with runat="server"). It appears that defensive code was properly added to the AJAX.AddScriptManager method in DNN 5.4.1 to fix that issue.

Can you get and post a stack trace to help track down at what point the exception is being thrown?

Does your aspx page contain a valid form tag? If not, try adding one.

William, Here's the trace: DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Services.Localization.Localization.GetPageLocale(PortalSettings portalSettings) at DotNetNuke.Framework.PageBase.get_PageCulture() at DotNetNuke.Framework.PageBase.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- I do have the proper form tag. Still throws the exception. Do I have to override default OnInit method?

I got rid of Page_Load method , and instead created override for OnLoad method that handles the execution and the exception is gone.  The only problem is that I can't get the logged-in user info through PortalSettings or UserController ,

I've managed to get the UserName through HTTP context, so I guess I can manage ok, but it would be nice to be able to get the ID.
