I am in the process of making some modifications to a project that was built on DNN 5 and I want to utilise the last IP Address property of the user in order to add some 'localisation' functionality as the users of this site login at certain offices within the company. In short I can work out where they are by looking at their IP address and then show them applicable content based on that location.

Looking in the Users table within the DNN database I can see that most users have an IP address stored in the 'LastIPAddress' field and seeing that the UserInfo object has a LastIPAddress property I thought perfect, all I need to do is read this back and that will work fine.

But it doesn't!

It would appear that the UserInfo.LastIPAddress property is always NULL, irrespective of whether the user actually has an IP address stored in the database. I have checked through the bug tracker and I cannot see that this has been logged and I have tested it in DNN 6 and I still get the same result.

This leads me to think that I must have misunderstood something as I cannot believe this would have been missed for so long!

Can anyone shine any light on this issue and let me know if I have misunderstood this? It does seem strange that the Users table contains others fields (such as FirstName and LastName) that map to the respective UserInfo properties, but potentially LastIPAddress doesn't.
