While checking some of the source code - I noticed that I was using a method that was "Deprecated in DNN 5.1".

What does this mean exactly?

Will this code always be there in future versions?

this indicates that the code is obsolete (typically the message should indicate the new method to use) which means we reserve the right to remove it in a future version. However we have not done so in a long time - the last time we deliberately removed obsolete methods was 3.0 as we'd rather have a few pieces of unused code than break someones project, even if it was many years old. However as time has gone on there are more and more of these, and we have been discussing a few options (removing them or using a binding redirect to point to a dll that contains all the obsolete references) - as such it's probably more important than usual to not use obsolete methods.
