I have a page which I added a friendly-URL entry to.  www.mydomain.com/newpage.aspx = www.mydomain.com/default.aspx?tabid=55

In this page, I have the documents module added.  When I tried to go to the settings page for the module, I get the following error.

Error: Module is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Modules.ModuleSettingsPage.BindData() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Modules.ModuleSettingsPage.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

When I access the page directly with the original URL, it can access the settings page just fine.  I believe this might be a bug?

I just tested it again.  It appears to have the same error for all modules.

To clarify a bit, I am pointing the Page Settings => Advanced Settings => Link Url to external, and have http://www.mydomain.com/newpage.aspx to force the menu entry to go to this url, and using the friendly-URL in host settings to rewrite back to the page.

The error message that you are noticing is an error that is outside of the individual modules, it is an error from core code.  Most likely the URL rewriter rule is missing the ModuleId or other querystring parameter that is needed to configure the page.
