Good Morning.  I have looked through the Documents Module Forum and see that others are having the same problem setting the Default Folder.  It seems likes this should be a very simple setting to activate--and a VERY useful one in our implemenation.

I am using DNN 5.0.0 and Documents 4.1.0.  I am doing all this signed on as either Host or Admin with same results.

PROBLEM:  I set the Default Folder and it does not show when I add documents.

  • Although I REQUIRE this to work under File Manager->Secure Database, I have also tried File Manager->Standard File System.
  • I have varied permissions in File Manager from very open to admin only
  • I have tried folder names with and without spaces.
  • I have tried one level down from Portal Root
  • I have tried signing on as an Editor

If anyone needs to see this issue live, I can make the system available.

Thank you!  Mike

 Hello Mike

I want to make sure I understand your situation.  You set the Default folder in the settings, and your expecated result is to see all files in that folder, without having to associate them with the Module.  Do I understand that correctly?  Currently, adding items to the Document Module is a manual task.

Mike,

Individuals have been reporting some issue with the setting of the default document, and at this time we have been tracking it back to an issue with the UrlControl, however, I have not yet been able to fully isolate the issue.

The next version of the module should hopefully have a fix for this.

I do apologize for this issue.

Scott:  Thank you for your reply.  What is happening is that I set the Default Folder to a specific location because all the NEW documents in a specific instance of the Documents Module will need to be placed there.  We are running into human error where people are uploading the files to the incorrect folder.  Since the Default is not "sticking", our users are still uploading things to root and other folders.  Does that make it clearer?

Thanks!

Mike

Mitch,

Thanks for your reply.  If I understand correctly, it sounds like you are able to reproduce the problem where the Default Folder is not working, but isolating the cause is still underway.  If you need to see another environment where the Default Folder is not working, I can make that available.

In the meantime, I am simply instructing the users to be more careful where they upload their files.

Mike
