Hello,

I see from http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Development... :

Our Vision for the Future
Later versions of the documents module will build on proposed new core features like:

  • Workflow management and versioning.
  • Visual "templates" that render the documents module in a variety of ways.
  • User-defined fields.
  • File Icons "

Show me the metadata ;) how far is that future? In the meantime are there robust third-parties modules?

I must say I'm a bit puzzled to see DotNetNuke referred to, more and more as a "Content Management System", shifting from the "Web Application Framework" ealier labeling. Unless I'm missing something from the Document module, or perhaps CMS functionality is elsewhere, but a very basic expectation for a "CMS" is to be able to upload content like for example a .pdf or .doc AND assign metadata to it, other than just a title and a trickle of other fields?

Any hint, or third-party module recommendation welcome. Thanks!

Maybe you can try Property Agent from Ventrian Systems. But im not sure about metadata support.

you may also use form and list module to create a list of files with custom attributes.
