If once some one bookmarks a document in the documents module, they can still download the document even after they have been removed from access to that module.

Is the new documents module only hiding the URL but not necessarily securing the document?

The new documents module leverages the core "secure storage" feature, which you control from the file manager.  If the folder that a file is stored in as set as secure - filesystem or secure - database, then users won't be able to download them unless they are logged in.  If the folder is set to "insecure", then the file is not secured in any way.

Thank you,

I got it now.  Security is handled by the File Manager, so that's where the security settings are made.  Works good.  When the proper security is set, then the previously bookmarked file will display a "you do not have permission..." message.

That's right.  Also the documents module does an access check before displaying the documents list, so any documents that are added to the module, but the user cannot access are not shown.
