Hello,

I am trying to configure Documents in a way that the link to a document is available to all users but unauthenticated users should not be able to actually download the content. They should be redirected to the login tab. I cannot get this to work. Can you help?

Bye
Mariette

You need to configure the folder where the documents are located as a secured folder (from Admin > Filemanager).

Since you cannot convert a normal folder to a secure one, you will need to create a new secure folder, and move all the files to that folder

Hi Erik,

Thanks, I know how to make a folder secure and how to set permissions but I am trying to do the impossible I guess. If you go to TechNet or MSDN even as a unauthenticated user you will see which downloads are available but you are not able to download it actually. You will need a subscription if you want to download stuff there. That is what I wanted to do with the Documents module. I would set Unauthenticated users to be able to "Browse Files in Folder" but I would deny or not allow "Open Files in Folder" but if I do that the download link would disappear for the Unauthenticated User in the Documents module.

Regards
Mariëtte

hmm, you may need a better module than that then...

Alternatively you could look at the PE product, but i am not sure that fits your budget

My budget and decision to purchase PE or Social does not depend on this issue. It depends on the results I will have in the first 3 months after the site is online. Spending money is easy.
