Hi All

I've had a look around the forum, but haven't found exactly what I'm experiencing: When not logged in (and all pages are set to All Users - View), I can't see the links to docs I have added to a docs module. They are in the folder I created for them in the file manager for that portal (it's a Child portal), and they are visible when logged in as Admin or Host.

I'm running a new Source install of 4.3.2., DB is SQL 2000. This child portal is one of several. I've added a Docs module to another child portal and get the same thing. It also happens with the Parent portal. And in all cases, checking the 'Open in a new window' checkbox does nothing (it opens in the same browser window - this however works fine for links that are checked to open in a new window, so it's not some browser setting...)

I found one thread that mentions this might happen if the 'download link' is visible, but another column before it is made not visible. I made the recommended change - rearranging the columns so there is no unchecked box before the 'download link' box - but it made no difference.

Has anyone else experienced this? It seems to me to be a pretty major bug. I have another portal running on the same server - It's a straightforward, one portal (no child portals) source install and it's doing the same thing: docs are not visible in unless logged in as Admin or Host. The documents module is 3.01.04.

This is not a bug, but a somewhat undocumented feature (we have some trouble with it on the dotnetnuke.com website as well).

The trick is that you have to give the roles that can access the documents read access on the folders the documents are in. You can do that through the admin file manager. Select the right folder and give all roles that need access to the documents read access on that folder.

Ah, I was bamboozled by the increasing complexity of DNN!

All in all, though, it has become an incredibly useful piece of software.

Thanks,

Gary
