Ok - I think this is my problem - upgraded to 4.3.3 (and latest Documents module) and my users are saying they can't see any documents.

I go to the FileManger to assign a role, but I have no list of folders! It only shows the root files and and a whole lot of files that were in their own folders all in one list, and no folders on the left.

I checked via FTP - they are definitely all in their own folders still?

This is quite a problem as no one can download anything!

I have the same problem. I'm using DNN 4.3.3 with the latest Documents module 3.01.05 and you can only see documents if you are logged in. Unauthenticated browsers see nothing in the documents module. Sometimes you do want to give everyone access to the documents. Setting roles in the file manager to allow everyone to read the folder does not allow any non-logged on user to see the contents of the documents module.

Is this designed into the module or can it be configured so that you do not have to logon to see the module contents?

Hmm - so you get folders in your File Manager? I don't even get these so I can't assign rights to them..

I for one do not like this "Feature" at all. Becasue it requires me to give read permissions to a folder, and that folder is then available for people to view when inside the text editor. It makes folder management much more difficult. Unregistered users that can download documents now can also place links to them in the forums..

In File Manager you could create multiple folders for each role. e.g:

Personnel Private (contains sensitive documents)
Personnel Public (contains non sensitive documents)

For the Public folder give View Folder permission to all relevant roles, and Write Folder permissions just to the Personnel Role.

For the Private Folder give View and Write to Only the Personnel Role.

Now all your have to remember is not to put the disciplinary documents in the public folder ;)
