Some basic marketing aspects that have always been missing from DNN are still in my opinion missing.

I have said this in other posts but we need a core url rewriter in the admin section.
So for instance you can check deleted pages and then add a redirect in.
rather than having to create the exact page name and then put redirect on it. - Editors delete pages some times.
the URL setup in DNN. It was not always this way as I pulled up an older version of DNN 4 and that had URLs with - in the space.
i.e.
domainname.com/dnn-6.aspx
instead of the new way
domainname.com/dnn6.aspx

I have run several comparisons and for SEO having the - in the space of a page name rather than no space is better.
Also I know we can add in URL rewrites to the site url config file or to IIS but why not make it part of the core make life easy for people.
having a tick box for show.aspx or hide .aspx would be good.

I do a lot of research into online marketing and my findings show that
If a site has the right content in it and done in the right way google will rank it.
but if your url is domainname.com/keyword-phrase/keyword
rather than domainname.com/keywordphrase/keyword.aspx then the first one will win every time as it is seen to be more relevant.
I have tested this using a wordpress site and a dnn site talking about the same subject chasing the same keyword.
On every occasion the domain with the - for the space in the page name and no .aspx was the winner overall.

I have tried this with basic HTML Pages as well and the results are always the same.

I Maintain over 600 websites and some of my clients do not have the money to pay for things such as URL infinity.
Plus why should they have to. DNN has the ability to have this in its core.

I can not by a third party app for everyone of my sites. It would be cheaper to have my own ASP.NET system built from scratch.

If you guys wish to become a leader in open source technology to me having basic SEO is a must.
And being able to have your pages displayed correctly is basic SEO.

The reason I bring this up is a customer the other week asked me to look at there website
The site was about therapists working in there local area like a directory.
unfortunately I had to tell them to move to WordPress rather than the system they were on  as there current system was setup like DNN
and local-therapists which was a page on there site was localtherapists which Google saw as local therapists and local the rapists.

Not good for SEO when more than one meaning can be taken. the minus sign shows google the the 2 words in this page are local therapists
and without this GOOGLE can see multiple words that are not relevant to the site.

I hope this helps someone in some way and you take this on board as you develop the core further.

Thanks
Paul
