I get most of that - and it does help to clarify. Still, I think the site redirection UI belongs in the core. The preview, templates and skins all make sense to me as pro features.  But, I don't see how anybody really benefits from having third party developers making special modules to just add a site-wide setting using an API controller.

Unless I'm missing something, adding/editing those redirection settings is all that's really needed - meaning it should be a pretty basic module.

The module has regular CRUD stuff + some advance options to configure complicated redirection rules.

IMHO this is a great option for community developers to step in and provide a great solution targeting community users. I am quite sure, we will see soon adequate solutions soon...

I can appreciate the same, but I have to totally agree with mike on this. This should be as simple as a extra skin option, etc

Skin page = select mobile skin as a site setting
Page settings = like select override to Change page skin just add have a select a mobile skin
