Hello,

I am interested in allowing users to "tag" themselves in their profile. It looks like I would have to write a custom profile type to do this currently in DNN.

I was wondering though whether, when it's put in, the Active Modules will do something like that... isn't there a profile component to that?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum - I thought that since it related to a future element, this might make sense.

Thanks,

Mike

we are doing user profile updates as part of 6.2.0 but I dont believe this is one of them (though we are working on 3-week sprints so the exact scope is not set as it's depends on resourcing/time/effort)

OK... Thanks Cathal.

I guess I'll just hold off - I don't need anything this instant. I just don't want to write a whole thing for it and then have to redo it all after the active stuff goes live.

Thanks for everything you guys are doing,

Mike

Hi Mike,
We don't have any plans for this capability at the moment, but I do know of others that have done this with a custom profile property. I've seen done as simple as a drop down box with a few categories. I've also seen instances where a custom profile property and control was created to integrate with Taxonomy. Either approach would be compatible with 6.2.

Cool... thanks.

Yeah, I'm looking more to integrate with taxonomy. I want to be able to use them as areas of interest to help identify content for the user later.

Maybe I'll start playing around with that stuff and see where it gets me.

Mike
