I created a skin then I am getting this error when trying to install or preview the new skin. What do I need to look at? Where is the error? Hee is the message:

Does your skin file include this line anywhere:

<dnn:USER runat="server" id="dnnUSER" CssClass="UserToken" />

Can you paste in the area of your skin that referances this?

Sounds like you didn't register the tag in your ASCX file.  Top of the file, after the first <%@ Control... line, should be a series of tag registrations.  You should have one that looks like this:

<%@ Register TagPrefix="dnn" TagName="USER" Src="~/Admin/Skins/User.ascx" %>

Without that, the server tag will be unknown.

If you use HTML skinning, please make sure using proper capitalisation. please post the section from your skin, where you included the user tag.

Also, an option that's worked pretty well, for me, is to go into your main folder which houses your skin(s) and open the .png files in PS, or other.... Make your alterations and resave, there-in replacing the initial files. My recommendation is to rename the files the same, but add something like, 'XX' in the front of the name; that way, when you save your changes you can just omit the preface and you're good.
