Newbie

Just getting started with dotnetnuke, I've been a Community Server Express user for years where I had a single blog, forum and media.  Now I would ike to move to dotnetnuke.  I have the system installed but I have to admit I'm lost from here!

I would like to setup a blog and then be able to view the blog - can't seem to get that one.  I'd like viewers to be able view the blog without registering.

I need links on the main page and need to be able to change the content - maybe have the main page be the blog.

I created a blog but can't tell how it looks "public" or how to get a link to the blog on the main page.  I do have the blog set for anonymous comments, with approval -but anonymous users can't get to the blog.  - getting ahead of things there.   Finally I'm hoping I can do an rss import from my exisitng blog set up with CS.

Thanks for the help and patience.

Hi Kirk -

Do you have the blog module installed already on your DotNetNuke site?  Have you managed to setup your own blog?

Thanks Joel

Yes I installed the Blog Module.  I clicked on the Create my Blog link and made a test post.

I was able to view the blog post as the user that made it but I could not view it without being logged in.  I did select Public.  I copied the to the blog post, pasted it to IE without being blogged in and all I got was the login screen.

I'm sure there is a way to get links at the top, like they are on this page I would like to have a link to the blog on the main page.  I was hoping to have the same viewable public setup as I have with CS.My CS site is at  http://thepoweroflove.us.

How do I edit the menu?  On this page - the page on the dotnetnuke forum there are 2 menus, one is round images showing download, forums blogs etc - how do I add that menu.  The other, standard menu, on this page shows Products, Development, Community, Support..etc - how do I edit that menu?

Kirk, you edit the menu

Products/Development/Community

by editing individual pages of your website. Go to a page, click on the Settings link in the control panel, and you can change the name of the page there, that shows up in the menu. If you want to control the sort order you can do that there as well, or you can go to the Admin/Pages page, and move things around.

The "top" menu you see here, with download/forums/blogs if likely just HTML content, not a dynamic menu.
