Please look at

www.pstwebtesting.com/dotnetnuke

Aim at any menu item (other than Home, of course).  A drop-down list appears.

Move the mouse away.  The dropdown menu stays.  If you aim at another main menu item, another drop-down appears, partially covering the first one.  Then they BOTH stick there.

Is there any simple setting we overlooked that may be causing this?

Thanks.

what dnn version is this?

AFAIK this is an issue with dnn 4.9.x, should be solved if you upgrade to dnn 5.2.3. Alternatively you can force the page to render in ie7 mode for ie8. There's a skinobject for that available at http://dnnskinextensions.codeplex.com/
