does anyone know a step-by-step guide to implement jQuery controls in a custom module in DNN version 5 ?

There is no trick to it at all. You can have DNN load it (from the source specified in the host settings)

From there it's just knowing jQuery, which you can find information anywhere. One other thing that may or may not be mentioned in the post above is that you may need to assign to another variable to avoid any conflicts.
