There are people who have been able developing DNN using VS and Cassini on Windows XP, but if you got XP Professional, there is IIS built in and you may use free XP Pro IIS Admin from www.jetstat.com/iisadmin to switch between multiple web sites. To start, install DNN and edit the default site To integrate your existing ASP.Net web application, best option would be converting it into a DNN module, easier might be using an iFrame.

iframe module is included with dnn (see host :: extensions, using action "install available extensions) regarding module development, check out dotnetnuke.adefwebserver.com - unfortunately I am not aware of a receipt for converting apps to DNN modules out of the box.
