Strange error:

An error has occurred.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Framework.DefaultPage.Page_Init(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Page.OnInit(EventArgs e) at DotNetNuke.Framework.PageBase.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I am unable to access the common tasks of the site because of the above error - I cannot get to the admin or host menus

I would appreciate any assistance or suggestions wrt above

How are you getting the error? I mean, can you access the home page? Have you changed anything on the install recently?

Hi Chris Thank you for responding so quickly. I am not aware of any changes to the site recently. I merely host the site. I was surprised to find it in this state. The site is upgraded dnn 4.9.5 - I see the last change was effected on 5 Nov 2009 and it was working then. I tried to set custom errors to "off" but this had no effect. I then set debug mode to true and voila I was able to access the admin area. What could have caused this?

Can you get more details about the error from the Event Viewer in DotNetNuke?
