Hi I just started at a company and they are using the DNN software as their framework for user management mainly.

They are not putting content pages up.

Rather they have and are continually developing robust web software application pages.

They developed a parent module (usercontrol) and then developed sub modules to encompass functionality within that page.  The problem with this is to use visible to turn on and off showing of the different "pages" windes up making the viewstate so big that browsers can't handle it.

We also winde up having performance problems and our IIS server is crashing.

So, I am in charge of trying to break this stuff up and get it to work in DNN if I can.  If I can't a new framework has to be discussed.

In some cases we could make it  by using dynamic usercontrols with LoadControl but through research I found that this not possible unless you take out the complete use of ViewState and try and make it completely client side javascript not hitting the server until the very end.

To have to rewrite stuff that way would make it extremely intensive re-write of the UI code.

Are there other ways or suggestions? We are using 04.08.02 version of dnn.

Yours in deepest gratitude,

Angela

Angela, - for security reasons, I strongly suggest upgrading at least to 4.9.5 - viewstate should be turned off for all controls, which don't need it - are you using postbacks only or AJAX as well?

Cheers from Germany,
