As instalation process procedes, I am asked to insert my Windows XP Service pack 3 cd, I insert a Reinstalation CD I got from the network guy at work (cause I lost mine).  I put the cd in my E drive, but it is nort reconized and I only downloaded 3 of 6 components.  I get "Setup cannot copy the file staxmem.dll" error.  I type in E:\, the drive for the cd, but no luck.

Anyone have any tips that could help,

much appreciated

Apparently your system does not have IIS (Internet Information Services) installed and you are using the Web Installer to install DotNetNuke and pre-requisites (such as IIS, ASP.Net 3.5 SP 1 and MS SQL 2005 Express). I'm not sure if the error is because you have the wrong version of the Windows XP SP3 CD or because of the following issue outlined in a MS Knowledgebase article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894351

If you do a Google search on "staxmem.dll" you'll receive many references to this issue.

It's been a while since I used XP but as I recall, only XP Professional included IIS.

I have been doing developenment with ASP.NET 3.5 and SQL Server 2008.  I think the express version of SQL is installed when I installed Visual Web developer from Microsoft also, but will have to confirm.  I assumed IIS was installed cause it comes with XP like you said, but couldn't find it.  All the info I found on "Stackmem.dll" had to do with installing IIS.  But all articles related to sp1 and sp2, I am running Windows XP sp3.  Will keep researching and look at the link you posted.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike, check XP installation, whether IIS is installed (XP pro only), VS might use its bundled Cassini web server.
