Hi:

I have a question regarding the search modules:

1.     Search/Search Results Modules -- What needs to be done in order to get the search modules working?   I have some content throughout the site and I search for a word that I know is there the:

Search results module returns this error: This module is hidden to regular users if there is no Search=xxx querystring parameter.
The ContentList Module returns this error:  This module is hidden to regular users if there is no Tag=xxx querystring parameter.

What does this mean and what do I need to to do fix it and return search results?  Also, I know this DNN comes with a basic search module so can you please tell me what parameters are being searched and what do I need to do to in order to provide the best possible search results using DNN's modules?

Also, does the type of skin purchased affect the functionality of the modules that are installed with DNN?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Sam

Do you know what type of module the content you are searching for is in? Not all modules support the search interface. You also should make sure the search indexer is running on the Host/Scheduler page.

Ok, I will check into that with my host.  Thank you.

The modules I am searching would be: HTML, Links, Blog...Is there a way I can find out the list of modules that are searchable?

you need a search input box on any page, other than the search results - either as module or part of your skin. Content of the modules you mentioned should be included in the search index, check host :: scheduler to make sure, the indexer is running frequently. if the results don't show up, clear the search tables (http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/tabid/134/Default.aspx) and re-index

To see if a module is searchable go to the Host/Extensions page, and click on the EDIT pencil next to the module. On that page there should be a ISearchable checkbox that is checked (you can't check/uncheck it yourself as it is disabled)

Here's a blog post of mine with some SQL if you end up wanting to force the search tables to be cleared out and make sure everything runs fine
